Madani files affidavit in SC citing additional expenses incurred during Kerala visit

New Delhi: Abdul Nassar Madani, accused in the Bengaluru blast case, said that the Kerala police provided him free security during his recent stay in Kerala for 12 days. Madani filed an additional affidavit of expenditure in the Supreme court citing that the overall expenses went over Rs 6.76 lakh paid to Karnataka police for security purposes.

Madani informed the court that he had to bear all the expenses of the Karnataka police who came with him, including their stay in a private hotel. 

Madani was in Kerala from 26 June to 7 July. Upon reaching Kerala on 26 June, he fell ill and was admitted to a hospital. During this time, he had to pay for the food and accommodation expenses of the accompanying police officers. 

Madani stated that apart from the money paid for security and the travel expenses, he had to pay extra to meet the expenses of the accompanying police officers. Kerala police also provided him with security but it was free of cost, Madani stated in the affidavit. 

Since Madani was admitted to the hospital on the day he reached Kerala, he could not continue his journey and was unable to meet his father. The doctors informed him that he might require a kidney transplant. 

In this circumstance, Madani requested the court that he may be allowed to seek treatment in his home state of Kerala as all his relatives are here. Madani demanded a relaxation in the bail conditions so that he might be allowed to go to Kerala. 

Madani has further requested that when allowed to go, his security detail must be given to Kerala police. His demand will be taken into consideration by the Supreme court on Monday.
