Local body bypolls: UDF, LDF maintain tally, BJP gains 1 seat

Thiruvananthapuram: The recently conducted byelections for 17 local body wards across nine districts in Kerala witnessed a strong competition between the LDF and UDF. 

The UDF emerged victorious in nine seats, while the LDF secured seven seats. Additionally, the BJP won one seat. The LDF managed to capture three seats from the UDF, while the UDF secured victory in two of the LDF's sitting seats. BJP captured a seat from CPM.

Previously, the UDF held nine seats and the LDF held seven seats, with one seat won by an independent candidate. 

The counting was held for 15 gram panchayat wards and two block panchayat wards, conducted on Thursday.

LDF maintained the Maravanthuruth division in the Vaikom block panchayat in Kottayam. UDF won the Chemmaniyodu division of Perinthalmanna block panchayat.
