No fee for conversion of land upto 25 cents

Thiruvananthapuram: The rate for converting the field levelled before 2008 into residential plot will now be the same for panchayats and corporations. Also the conversion of land with an area of upto 25 cents can be done free of cost.

Concession will be given for conversion of land categorised before December 30, 2017 and has special title deed. If the land was divided into plots less than 25 cents area after December 30, 2017, then concession will not be given.

Conversion will be allowed charging certain percentage of the fair price of the land as fee. For land upto 20.23 Are, 10 percent of the price will be charged as fee in panchayat, 20 percent in municipality and 30 percent in corporations.

For lands that are above 25 cents and below one acre, only 10 percent of fair price need to be paid in panchayats, municipalities and corporations. Similarly, 20 percent of the price will be charged for the lands above one acre in panchayats, municipalities and corporations.

The ban of constructing buildings in the converted land will continue. The revised rate will be in force from February 25.
