No long waits, no extra charges: Get property deeds online, here is how

Kollam: Land registration, measurement, and mutation processes have now been streamlined, allowing people to obtain ownership documents from the comfort of their homes. Under the new system, all services previously managed by the Registration, Revenue, and Survey Departments have been integrated into a single online portal.
- To begin a land transaction, applicants must first obtain a Thandaper certificate from the Revenue Department and a land sketch from the Survey Department.
- The online portal will offer various options for users to choose from. By entering personal details into the appropriate section, users can prepare their property deeds. This can also be done with the help of those who record these property deeds.
- Fees for e-stamp and registration should be paid directly from the customer's account. This is to cut out middlemen from charging extra fees.
- Once the deed is completed online, the owner will have to visit the Sub-Registrar’s office to attest it. However, efforts are underway to introduce a system that will allow registration without the need for a physical visit to the Sub-Registrar’s office.
- During the registration process, the new owner's details will be updated in both the survey and revenue records. This eliminates the need for separate applications for land mutation process. In cases where an on-site inspection is required, immediate notification will be sent to the officials.
- ILMIS fees for all three departments can be paid online through the new portal.
