Kudumbashree steps up production with sugar-free and high-protein product range

Alappuzha: In a move to promote healthy eating habits and value-added food products, Kudumbashree is preparing to introduce a range of high-protein and sugar-free food items in the market. The products will be launched through 'K-INAM’, a component of the Kudumbashree Technology Advancement Programme (K-TAP), which integrates agricultural livelihoods with modern technology.
As part of the initiative, training in 30 new technologies has been completed. Earlier this year, Kudumbashree had already introduced products developed using 30 technologies from a set of 180 technologies acquired under the K-TAP programme last year. Training for another 30 technologies has now been completed.
The initiative aims to tackle several challenges faced by Kudumbashree micro-enterprises, including traditional food processing methods, low market value of products, and the lack of food safety standards and certifications.

Under the agricultural value-added category, Kudumbashree will also introduce products made with honey, coconut, moringa, millets and various tubers.
Other products planned for launch include multi-grain roti, fruit juices, instant food mixes, soaps and incense sticks.
In the first phase, Kudumbashree had already launched products such as diabetic mixes, beverages, coffee cubes, virgin coconut oil, nutribars, baby powder, and food items made from tapioca and bananas.
