Thiruvananthapuram: The Cantonment Police have registered a case against five persons including Mayor Arya Rajendran and MLA Sachin Dev in connection with the verbal dispute involving KSRTC bus driver Yadhu and the mayor. This move follows a directive from the Thiruvananthapuram Vanchiyoor Chief Judicial Magistrate court, responding to a petition filed by High Court lawyer Baiju Noel.

The case is filed under various sections, including illegal assembly, obstruction of public transport, public nuisance, and others. All five accused have been charged with bailable offences.

The legal action stems from an altercation that occurred on April 27, wherein the mayor, accompanied by her husband Sachin Dev, engaged in a heated argument with KSRTC bus driver Yadhu.

Following the incident, the next day, Yadhu lodged a complaint at the cantonment station and with the city police commissioner. However, his complaint was reportedly not accepted at that time. On Saturday morning, Yadhu filed a formal complaint at the Vanchiyoor court.
