Karipur, Kerala: Kozhikode Airport (Karipur) is set to take on a festive spirit this Wednesday as it observes Passenger Service Day, or Yatri Sewa Diwas. The Airport Authority has directed staff to join hands in making the day memorable for travellers.

Kerala’s traditions at the terminal

Arriving passengers will be greeted in Kerala’s traditional style with thalappoli ceremonies, live percussion, flowers, and sweets. For those waiting to depart, the security lounge will feature hourly folk dances, quizzes, and drawing competitions for children. Both domestic and international terminals will share the celebrations.

Beyond festivity

The programme also highlights environmental and health initiatives. Saplings will be planted at different locations with support from Kondotty Municipality and Pallikkal Panchayat. Health and eye check-up camps will be open to passengers and staff, while a blood donation camp reflects the day’s spirit of service.

To bring the community closer, 100 students from Kottappuram Government Higher Secondary School will be invited to visit the airport. Taxi drivers, who are often the first point of contact for travellers, will undergo training in courteous behaviour, first aid, traffic rules, and driving on six-lane roads.
