He lay injured, waiting for help that came too late; 18-year-old dies in Kozhikode

Kozhikode: An 18-year-old youth died after being hit by a car near the Korappuzha bridge on the National Highway bypass, with several vehicles passing by as he lay bleeding on the road for more than 20 minutes. No one stopped to help him.
Farseen Ahmed (18), son of Faisal Ahmed of Reishas, Kappad, Chemancheri, was the victim.
The accident occurred at around 10.25 am on Tuesday. A car travelling in the same direction hit Farseen's bike as he was heading towards Kozhikode city. He was thrown onto the road and was then hit by another car travelling in the opposite direction.
Although Farseen was wearing a helmet, he suffered severe injuries and was left bleeding on the road. Blood spread across the road as vehicles continued to pass the scene. Even the occupants of the car that first hit him did not stop, according to those at the scene.
An ambulance was called by some labourers and travellers who noticed the injured youth. The police also reached the spot by then. Farseen was taken to Government Medical College Hospital at around 11.10 am, but he died at around 2 pm.
Farseen was a first-year CA student at Triple I College near the Medical College. He was returning to college after visiting his grandmother at his ancestral home in Kappad. He had earlier undergone a dental procedure at a private clinic in Atholi.
His family lives at Serena Cottage, Chengottukavu. He is survived by his mother, Ramsena, and siblings Muhammed Fisan and Fathima Rifna.
The body has been kept at the Government Medical College mortuary. Funeral prayers will be held at 12.30 pm (Dhuhr) on Wednesday at Chengottukavu Juma Masjid. Burial will take place at Madakkara Juma Masjid.
