The Congress-led United Democratic Front (UDF) government on Friday presented a revised State Budget for 2026-27, outlining a range of development initiatives across Kerala. From major infrastructure projects and healthcare investments to education, tourism and industry-led growth, the Budget earmarks funds for several district-specific priorities that are expected to shape local development in the coming years.

Thiruvananthapuram
Knowledge and Space Hub: Designated as Zone 1 of the Southern Kerala Economic Corridor, focusing on space technology and knowledge.
Infrastructure: Expedited land acquisition for the Balaramapuram-Vizhinjam underground railway and the Vizhinjam-Navaikulam Outer Ring Road (₹100 crore allocated).
Transport: Implementation of the Thiruvananthapuram Light Metro (₹20 crore shared with Kozhikode).
Healthcare and Education: Operationalisation of the second Medical College and grant of 'Constituent College' status to the Government Engineering College.
