Heavy rain: Holiday announced for schools in Kottayam district, Devikulam Taluk on Wednesday

Kottayam: In the wake of intensified rain and strong winds across Kottayam district, collector V Vighneshwari has announced holidays for all educational institutions including anganwadis and professional colleges.
Idukki district collector Sheeba George has announced holiday for schools and other educational institutions in Devikulam Taluk on Wednesday. She has asked the people to be vigilant regarding the heavy rains continuing in the district. As the rains keep on pouring down, night travel has been banned in the district to avoid any untoward incidents. The night travel ban would be from 7 pm to 6 am. There are chances of land slips, falling of trees and waterlogging, district administration warned the people. The travel through Munnar gap road has been completely banned. Collector has issued strict order regarding this to the police.
Considering the chances of landslips in Munnar, three relief camps have been opened up in Munnar. The families residing in Munnar were shifted to the relief camp opened at CSI Hall, Old Munnar. Devikulam sub collector VM Jayakrishnan coordinated the activities here.
