Kollam Abduction: Police suspect mastermind was Anithakumari, devised plan a year ago

Kollam: Anithakumari, one of the three accused in the case of abducting a 6-year-old girl here, is suspected to be the mastermind behind the entire operation, says police.

Speaking to the media on Saturday,  ADGP (Law and Order) M R Ajith Kumar IPS said that the accused had prepared the plan almost a year ago. Meanwhile, authorities presume that Padmakumar, his wife Anithakumari and their daughter Anupama are the only perpetrators behind the abduction.

According to ADGP, Padmakumar's mother and Anupama opposed the plan prepared almost a year ago. However, Padmakumar's mother died on June 28. Anupama, who owns a YouTube channel, was in financial trouble after she stopped receiving revenue from it. According to reports, she used to earn between Rs 3.8 lakh and Rs 5 lakh per month as revenue. Facing crisis, she agreed to join the plan prepared by his father and mother to abduct the kids.

Meanwhile, Padmakumar fell into a financial crisis following the COVID-19 pandemic. According to the accused, these issues motivated them to implement their plan. Furthermore, he told police he had a debt of Rs 5 crores.
