Alappuzha/ Kottayam: Following persistent waterlogging and heavy rainfall across central Kerala, district administrations in Alappuzha and Kottayam have announced holidays for select educational institutions on Tuesday, August 11, 2026.

In Alappuzha, an official order issued by District Collector and District Disaster Management Authority (DDMA) Chairman Shaji V Nair, IAS, confirmed a complete holiday for all educational institutions in Kuttanad taluk, including professional colleges, anganwadis, and tuition centres. The decision was taken based on reports from the Kuttanad Tehsildar regarding ongoing waterlogging and local relief operations.

In addition, the holiday umbrella has been extended across both Alappuzha and Kottayam districts for all schools and educational institutions currently operating as emergency relief camps for flood-affected residents.

Scope in Kuttanad (Alappuzha): All professional colleges, schools, anganwadis and tuition centres across Kuttanad taluk.

Scope across Alappuzha and Kottayam: All educational institutions serving as active relief camps for displaced families.

Status of examinations: Previously scheduled university and board examinations will proceed as planned without any alteration.
