Half-price scam: Anand Kumar to be named prime accused; key documents seized from EKM

Kochi, Kerala: The Muvattupuzha police is planning to name K.N. Anand Kumar, executive director of Saigram Global Trust, as the prime accused in the Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) funds scam case.

The case pertains to the alleged extortion of money from multiple individuals through promises of scooters, laptops, and other household appliances at half price, falsely claiming to utilize Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) funds. In addition to Anand Kumar, directors of the National NGO Confederation will also be named in the case.

The police investigations revealed that the National NGO Confederation had entrusted Anandhu Krishnan, the mastermind behind the scam, with the distribution of scooters. Crucial documents, including the confederation’s bylaws, were seized as part of the probe, providing key evidence of his role in the fraudulent operation.

Earlier, Anand Kumar was named second accused in a case registered in Kannur.  Meanwhile, police have summoned Anandhu Krishnan’s accountants to gather details about his financial transactions. He had reportedly confessed to making payments to political leaders, often using proxies. The investigation into these claims is ongoing.

Authorities have also recovered critical documents from Anandhu Krishnan’s 'flat in Kochi and a villa in Ernakulam, along with WhatsApp chats that are now under examination. The police team also froze 21 bank accounts associated with Anandhu Krishnan.

Police raids seed society office in Kannur

The police conducted a raid at the office of the Irikkur Block Seed Society in Kannur, which was accused of fraudulently collecting money from numerous people by promising scooters at half price. 

The raid took place at the society's office, under the supervision of Mayyil Inspector P.C. Sanjay Kumar. During the search, officials seized bills, receipts, stamp papers, seals, notices, and application forms.
