Who is KJ Shine? CPM's surprise candidate in Ernakulam

Kochi: It came as a surprise to many when news broke that CPM has chosen K.J. Shine as its candidate for the Ernakulam constituency in the upcoming Lok Sabha elections. Despite being relatively unknown within the party, Shine has recently gained prominence in Kerala Opposition Leader VD Satheesan's sitting assembly constituency in North Paravur.

Meanwhile, CPM is yet to announce its final list of candidatures. According to reports, CPM will officially release the list after holding a meeting on February 27.

K.J. Shine, also known as Shine Teacher, is an excellent orator and an active figure in party activities in North Paravur. Shine's name came up in the discussion when the party decided to field one of its two female candidates in Ernakulam.

By fielding her in Ernakulam, the party intends to leverage her active participation in the Kerala Catholic Youth Movement (KCYM) in the district.

Shine is also a member of North Paravur Municipality for three consecutive terms. She is a standing committee chairperson in the municipality and the state committee member of the Kerala School Teachers Association (KSTA).
