Assault on youth in TVM: Accused released on bail hours after arrest

Thiruvananthapuram: The Mangalam police in Thiruvananthapuram district on Tuesday granted bail to a person who was accused of beating a youth. Faisal, the accused, was released from police custody hours after he was arrested. Anas of Kaniyapuram, who was critically injured in the incident, is currently ongoing treatment at the medical college.

Earlier today, the Mathrubhumi News had reported that Anas was assaulted by a drunkard. The police were reluctant to register a case on issue initially. After the news broke, the police acted swiftly and nabbed Faisal by afternoon.

Mathrubhumi News had released the CCTV footage of the incident. It is clear from the footage that the accused brutally beat Anas even after he fell unconscious. However, the accused was released by the police on bail from the station as he was not charged for sections like 307 of IPC (attempt to murder).
