Setback for Guv Khan as HC annuls his nominations to Kerala University senate

Kochi: Kerala Governor Arif Mohammed Khan suffered a setback on Tuesday after the High Court annulled the appointment of four members to the Kerala University Senate.
The single bench rejected Khan's argument that he could make appointments to the Senate at his own discretion as he is the Chancellor of the varsity.
Meanwhile, the High Court upheld the appointment of two individuals appointed by the government. The court also issued a directive mandating that new appointments be made within six weeks.
“We welcome the court’s verdict. It is a setback for the governor, both legally and politically. The governor had misused his position for political gain. This is what the SFI was protesting against. This verdict is a setback for everyone, including the UDF, who supported the governor," said SFI State Secretary PM Arsho.
