Thiruvananthapuram: From a time when people used to fear even the sight of a police vehicle from afar, to now filming social media reels alongside police officers — a big shift has come about with the advent of Kerala Police’s Janamaithri (people-friendly) policing initiative. In an effort to render their services more effectively to the public, Kerala Police have been actively engaging with the public through social media, especially reels. However, a recent heartwarming video shared by the police has struck a particularly emotional chord with viewers.

The video, posted on the official Facebook page of Kerala Police, shows a young girl filming a reel in front of a police jeep. The incident is said to have taken place in Ponmudi, a popular hill station and tourist destination in Thiruvananthapuram district. The girl is seen dancing in front of a Force Gurkha SUV belonging to the Ponmudi Police Station.

The caption accompanying the 34-second video features a well-known dialogue from the Malayalam film Anne Mary Kalippilaanu, originally delivered by actor Siddique. The caption reads: "If children express a wish, we should try to fulfil it if we can."

To make the moment even more special, the police turned on the vehicle's indicator and beacon lights, adding to the video’s appeal. The gesture has been widely appreciated, showcasing a softer, more approachable side of policing.
