Newborn's body found in river at Kozhikode with umbilical cord still intact; probe on

Kozhikode: The body of a newborn was found in a river at Kalathilkadavu, Nellyadi Kalathil Kadavu, in the wee hours of Tuesday.

The local fishermen spotted the body around 1:30 a.m. while fishing in the area.

The newborn was found with the umbilical cord still intact, raising suspicions about the circumstances surrounding the incident.

Later, a team of fire force and police officials arrived at the scene and retrieved the body from the river. The body is shifted to the mortuary at Koyilandy Taluk Hospital.

Police confirmed that the body was found submerged in the water and stated that a detailed investigation is underway.
