Kozhikode: Kunjahammed Koorachund, treasurer of the Nimisha Priya Action Council, has alleged that a young MLA from south Kerala is responsible for delaying the release of Nimisha Priya. According to the Action Council, the MLA is allegedly aiding those creating obstacles to her release.

Kunjahammed made the allegation against the young MLA via social media. He claimed that Paul, a pastor based in Yemen, and Samuel Jerome, are the ones obstructing Nimisha’s release. The family had already agreed to accept one million dollars as blood money. Later, Jerome and the pastor offered a higher amount, which led to confusion within the family, he alleged.

"If the MLA stops supporting them, Nimisha's release could be achieved quickly," Kunhahammed said. "Why did the MLA go to meet the Governor regarding this matter? His father had contacted us in the past about this issue. It was he who brought the matter to the attention of the then Minister of State for External Affairs. But why is his son approaching the Kerala Governor about this matter now? What is the agenda behind it?" Kunhahammed Koorachund questioned.

The murdered Yemeni citizen’s brother, Abdul Fattah Mahdi, had recently renewed calls for the nurse’s execution.
