Medical college doctors announce OP boycott across Kerala on Monday

Thiruvananthapuram: Doctors at medical colleges across the state will boycott outpatient services (OPs) and stage a strike on Monday to press for a range of demands.

The doctors, represented by the Kerala Government Medical College Teachers Association (KGMCTA), are calling for salary reforms, recruitment of doctors proportional to patient numbers, and the prevention of unscientific transfers.

KGMCTA clarified that the strike follows a lack of a favourable response from the government. Junior doctors and postgraduate doctors will continue to provide services at medical colleges during the strike.

The association also warned that if the demands are not met, it will launch a relay strike from October 28, escalating the protest further.
