Kerala local body polls: 3 couples to contest NDA seats in Aluva municipality

Aluva, Kerala: In a first for Aluva Municipality in Ernakulam district, the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) will field candidates in all 26 wards, with three couples contesting six wards in the upcoming local body elections in the state.

Of the six candidates, five are from the BJP and one from the BDJS. Among the couples, one person is a current councillor.

Couple 1: Anita Shine will contest from Ward 2, Gurumandiram, while her husband, AR Shine, will contest from Ward 3, Desam Kadavu. A retired army officer, Shine is the BDJS candidate. Anita, a retired Sanskrit teacher, had previously contested the same ward in 2015 as a BJP candidate.

Couple 2: In Ward 4, M.R. Rajni is contesting, while her husband N. Sreekanth will seek votes in Ward 5, Manappuram. Currently a councillor of Ward 4 and BJP Mandalam General Secretary, Sreekanth is a businessman. Rajni is an assistant professor at Jai Bharath College.

Couple 3: Sajitha will contest Ward 13, Madrassa, while her husband M.K. Satheesh will run from Ward 23. Satheesh, a businessman, had contested Ward 13 as a BJP candidate in 2020. Sajitha is an active BDJS worker.
