Holiday for these schools in 3 Kerala districts on Monday and Tuesday; Details inside
Kochi: District Collectors in Alappuzha, Pathanamthitta and Kottayam have announced holidays for schools and government institutions in areas where local body byelections are being held. The decision affects polling stations and institutions in the respective districts.
Two-day holiday for certain schools in Pathanamthitta
In Pathanamthitta, schools designated as polling stations will remain closed on December 9 and 10 (Monday and Tuesday). The affected institutions are:
- St. George High School, Elakolloor
- Government LP School, Thengumkavu
- No. 77 Anganwadi, Poovanpara
- Amrita LP School, Vellappara
- MCM ITC, Elakolloor
- Republican VHSS, Konni
- DVLPS, Kotta
- MTLPS, Kalarikode
- TKMRMVHSS, West Edayaranmula
- Sri Karumban Daivathan Memorial Government LPS, Vallana
- St. Mary’s MT LPS, Erumakkad
- St. Mary’s Higher Secondary School, Niranam
- Government HSS, Ezhumattoor
Also, all government offices and educational institutions in constituencies with by-elections in Pathanamthitta will observe a holiday on December 10 (Tuesday), as declared by the District Collector. However, this does not apply to staff engaged in election duties.
Holidays in Alappuzha
The District Collector in Alappuzha has declared holidays for certain schools functioning as polling stations on December 9 (Monday) and December 10 (Tuesday).
These schools are:
- Government HS, Pollethai
- TMPLPS, Kalavoor
- St. Joseph Public School, Pollethai
- Government SKVLPS, Pathiyoor
- Government LPBS, Eruva
Apart from these, all government and educational institutions in the constituencies of Aryad Block (Ward 1, Valavanad) and Eruva Mandal will be closed on December 10.
Holidays in Kottayam
In Kottayam, the District Collector has declared a holiday on December 10 (Tuesday) for all educational institutions and government offices in areas where byelections are being held.
These include:
- Ward 16 (Kuzhiveli), Erattupetta Municipality
- Ward 3 (ITI), Athirampuzha Grama Panchayat
Polling stations in these areas will also remain closed on December 9 and 10.
The holiday orders exclude offices and officials engaged in election-related activities.
