Shan murder case: Police nab one of the assailants

Alappuzha: In a major development in Alappuzha double murder case, police nabbed one of the accused who hacked SDPI leader KS Shan to death. Mannachery native Athul who was among the assailants was held here on Friday.
It is for the first time, the police nabbed one who is directly involved in the case.
Though ADGP Vijay Sakhare summoned a press meet on Friday morning, he didn’t disclose any details on the arrest. Even after sources close to the police department reported the arrest, an official confirmation is not made yet.
SDP leader KS Shan was hacked by a group of men on Saturday around 7.30 pm. He succumbed to his injuries at a private hospital in Ernakulam. Hours after his death a BJP leader Ranjith Sreenivasan also hacked to death in Aluva. The assailants barged into his house on Sunday morning and killed him in the presence of his family.
