Thiruvananthapuram: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has released a weather bulletin forecasting heavy rainfall across Kerala in the coming days. Officials said strong winds reaching up to 40 km per hour are also expected during this period.
An orange alert has been declared for Kozhikode, Kannur and Kasaragod districts on Monday, October 27. Meanwhile, a yellow alert has been issued for Alappuzha, Idukki, Ernakulam, Thrissur, Palakkad, Malappuram and Wayanad districts.
For Tuesday, October 28, a yellow alert has been announced for seven districts—Thiruvananthapuram, Kollam, Pathanamthitta, Alappuzha, Kottayam, Idukki and Ernakulam.
According to the IMD, an orange alert indicates rainfall between 115.6 mm and 204.4 mm, while a yellow alert suggests rainfall ranging from 64.5 mm to 115.5 mm.
Safety advice
The IMD has urged residents to remain cautious as heavy rain and strong winds may cause damage to houses, roads and other infrastructure. Authorities have advised people, particularly those in coastal and low-lying areas, to stay alert.
Residents in the affected districts are encouraged to monitor local weather updates and follow safety instructions issued by officials.
