100% digital literacy: Kerala govt to roll out special project from Jan 26

Thiruvananthapuram: After leading by example in normal literacy rate (the total percentage of the population who can read and write with understanding), Kerala is eyeing to achieve 100 digital literacy (who can use smartphones and internet). A special project for digital literacy under the name ‘Complete Digital Literacy” will be rolled out on January 26, which is Republic Day.
The project will be spearheaded by the Local Self-Government Department. The aim is to make citizens digitally equipped so that they can easily avail all online government citizens on a day-to-day basis. The target population is individuals aged 14 to 70.
As a first step, a survey will be conducted to identify digitally illiterate ones. Those who are interested in working as volunteers for the survey should register themselves by January 30. They will be trained for the conduct of the survey from February 5 to March 15. While the survey will happen from March 20 to April 20. The digitally illiterate ones will be given training from May 15 to July 31. An evaluation will be conducted to assess their literacy. Those qualifying will be given a certificate of merit.
