Kerala govt inaugurates 800 roads today; Rs 150 cr spent for 1840 km road reconstruction

Thiruvananthapuram: The inauguration of 800 roads constructed under Chief Minister’s local self government road reconstruction project was held on Sunday. The restoration of the roads with a total length of 1840 kilometre has been completed under an expense of Rs 150 crore. 

The roads that were damaged in the floods of 2018 and 2019, but not included in the Rebuild Kerala Initiative were reconstructed through the local self government road reconstruction project.  

Minister MB Rajesh conducted the state-level inauguration of the roads at Ittonam Centre in Thrithala, Palakkad on Sunday at 11 am. The inaugural ceremonies under the respective local self government bodies were also held at the same time.  

As many as 5062 roads in 140 constituencies in the state were reconstructed under the project. The state government had granted Rs 1000 crore for 12000 kilometre long road reconstruction in the state. The construction of 4659 roads (10,680 km) has been completed currently by spending Rs 696.6 crore.
