Kerala DGP calls for legal action against ADGP MR Ajith Kumar over false statement against P Vijayan

Thiruvananthapuram: The Director General of Police (DGP) has recommended that a case can be registered against ADGP MR Ajith Kumar for giving a false statement against senior police officer P Vijayan. The DGP stated that both civil and criminal proceedings could be initiated, adding that Ajith Kumar provided false testimony in a serious criminal matter and even signed and submitted the false statement — which qualifies as a criminal offence.
Ajith Kumar had claimed that P Vijayan was connected to the gold smuggling case. In a statement given to the DGP, Ajith Kumar said that SP Sujith Das had informed him of Vijayan’s involvement. However, Sujith Das denied having made such a statement.
Following the incident, P Vijayan had written to the government seeking legal action. The government subsequently sought the DGP's opinion, which led to the recommendation that legal action could be taken against Ajith Kumar.
