Kochi: The Kerala High Court on Wednesday declined to grant Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Shone George access to documents submitted by the Serious Fraud Investigation Office (SFIO) in connection with a corporate fraud probe involving Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan’s daughter, the legal news portal Bar and Bench reported.

Allegations and parties involved

The case centres on allegations of fraud linked to Cochin Minerals and Rutile Ltd (CMRL) and an IT company owned by the CM’s daughter, Veena Thaikandiyil. According to the portal, Justice VG Arun upheld petitions filed by CMRL against a sessions court order that had earlier allowed George to obtain the documents.

Direction for fresh consideration

While refusing access at this stage, the High Court instructed the sessions court to reconsider George’s application and issue detailed, reasoned orders on the matter.
