Kerala CM rubbishes MLA Anvar's allegations, calls them a ploy to dent government, LDF

New Delhi: A day after Left independent MLA P. V. Anvar made serious accusations against the CPM, the LDF, and Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan, the CM denied the claims on Friday, labelling them as an “attempt to malign and defame" the ruling government in Kerala.
Speaking to reporters in New Delhi, the CM stated that Anvar’s comments clearly showed his intention to distance himself from the Left front. "He made his intention clear by his statements. He clearly announced he was keeping away from the LDF and will not attend its parliamentary party meeting in the state assembly," the CM said.
He further said that Anvar was "rejecting the allegations made by him against the party, LDF and the government..."It was part of an attempt to malign and defame the LDF and the government," he said. The Chief Minister noted that Anvar's allegations echoed those typically made by the opposition against the LDF.
The CM emphasised that Anvar's remarks would not interfere with the ongoing investigations into the various complaints he raised.
In a strong rebuke, Anvar had criticised Pinarayi Vijayan on Thursday, accusing him of misleading the public and demanding that he step down from overseeing the Home department. He also challenged the Chief Minister to order a reinvestigation of around 180 gold smuggling cases in the state, suggesting that police procedures were not being followed properly when seizing gold from illegal carriers.
Anvar went further, calling the CM a "cheat" and expressing disappointment that the ruling CPM had not fulfilled the promises made to him regarding his complaints against ADGP M. R. Ajithkumar and the Chief Minister's political secretary, P. Sasi.
