‘Doesn’t the minister have any responsibility in any of this?’: VD Satheesan accuses Pinarayi Govt of negligence in bridge safety

Thiruvananthapuram: Opposition Leader of Kerala, V D Satheesan, said bridges in the state are constantly collapsing while those who accused the Palarivattom bridge of being a 'Panchavadi palam' are in power.

Satheesan also said three bridges have collapsed in the state recently. The Thorayikadavu bridge, under construction in Koyilandy Chemancherry, collapsed on Thursday. Fortunately, there were no casualties. A few days ago, the Keecherikadavu bridge in Mavelikkara collapsed, killing two workers. Earlier, the Koolimad bridge connecting Malappuram and Kozhikode districts also collapsed.

The Pinarayi Vijayan government tried to implicate the then public works minister in a case and put him in jail in connection with the bridge in Palarivattom that did not collapse. It was during the same Pinarayi Vijayan government that corrupt structures collapsed one after another. “Doesn’t the minister have any responsibility in this? Are those who filed a case against former minister VK Ebrahim Kunju ready to file a case against the current public works minister?” Satheesan said, adding that the government should not forget that everything is being watched by the people.
