‘Crucial election for Kerala’s future’: Pinarayi Vijayan confident of LDF return | VIDEO

Kannur: Calling the Kerala Assembly election a decisive moment for the state, Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan on Thursday said the election would determine the future trajectory of Kerala, stressing that development must not be interrupted.
Speaking to reporters after casting his vote along with family at a booth in Pinarayi, Vijayan said people are keen on continuity in governance and progress, adding that the Left Democratic Front (LDF) alone can take the state forward with commitment and clarity.
“This is a crucial election that will shape Kerala’s future. The state has already stepped towards becoming a developed society, and significant achievements have been made across sectors. People want that progress to continue without any break,” he said.
The Chief Minister asserted that public sentiment strongly favours the LDF, noting that even those aligned with rival fronts recognise the need for sustained development. He added that voters have gained confidence from their lived experience over the past decade.
“People are convinced that only the LDF can carry forward Kerala’s development with dedication. They are assured that an LDF government will not falter,” Vijayan said.
Highlighting governance credentials, he said Kerala has earned a reputation as one of the least corrupt states in the country, attributing it to the political culture of the LDF. “This is something people clearly recognise. Others cannot replicate this,” he added.
Vijayan also referred to past administrative challenges, saying earlier periods saw delays in implementing key projects. In contrast, he said, the LDF government demonstrated resolve in executing development initiatives, which, according to him, form the basis of the state’s progress over the last ten years.
He maintained that even those with political differences believe the LDF should continue to lead the state, citing its ability to navigate crises and ensure stability. “Despite multiple challenges and attempts to obstruct progress, we have moved forward and transformed Kerala into a model state,” he said.
Dismissing allegations and campaign narratives against the front, Vijayan said spreading misinformation would not yield results. “People judge based on experience. We have always trusted the people, and they have trusted us,” he said.
Confident of electoral gains, he pointed out that the LDF improved its seat tally in 2021 compared to 2016, calling it recognition of its performance. “There is no doubt we will win more seats this time,” he added.
On allegations of communal campaigning, Vijayan said such efforts would not influence Kerala’s electorate. “Voters in Kerala are politically aware and cannot be swayed by divisive propaganda or money power,” he said.
Responding to a query regarding remarks about the Telangana Chief Minister, Vijayan declined detailed comment, saying he would respond further after the elections.
