Recognition for Keltron: Nagpur Corporation awards contract to implement AI-supported traffic system

Kozhikode: In a remarkable achievement for Keltron, the Nagpur Municipal Corporation has awarded the company a contract to set up the Intelligent and Integrated Traffic Management System, which was developed and successfully implemented in Kerala. The project, estimated at Rs. 197 crores, aims to ensure traffic management and proper maintenance in Nagpur town.
What makes this achievement even more significant is that Keltron won the project after competing against major companies from across the country. The company was selected for this project due to the successful implementation of the AI-supported traffic system for Kerala's Motor Vehicle Department. As part of the contract, Keltron will install the Intelligent and Integrated Traffic Management System across 171 junctions, including 11 traffic centers in Nagpur. Keltron officials are confident that they will complete the project within 15 months.
The project will be carried out by Keltron's Traffic Signal Division in Thiruvananthapuram. In addition to implementing the system, Keltron will also establish the necessary infrastructure. The company will also be responsible for the operation and maintenance of the entire system for the next five years.
Under this project, violations such as not wearing helmets, not wearing seat belts, overspeeding, parking in no-parking zones, disobeying traffic signals, and reckless driving will be detected. The system will automatically generate challans for the payment of fines too. Using sensors, the system will manage 165 traffic signals in Nagpur, making a significant change to the city’s traffic management. The system will also be capable of adjusting based on the intensity of vehicular flow during peak hours.
To gather further details about Nagpur's existing traffic system, a team of experts from Keltron has already arrived in the city. They will conduct a study and submit a report to the municipal corporation on the project’s scope and implementation. Work is also underway to set up a temporary office for Keltron in Nagpur.
Once successfully implemented, this project is expected to open the door for Keltron to secure similar contracts from other cities across the country.
