Kerala Govt sanctions ₹14.40 crore for Endosulfan victims in Kasaragod

Thiruvananthapuram: The Kerala government has sanctioned ₹14.40 crore for the continued implementation of the Snehasanthwanam scheme, a comprehensive package aimed at the rehabilitation and welfare of Endosulfan victims in Kasaragod district.

The amount has been sanctioned through the Social Justice Department under the state's 2026-27 budget allocation.

A major portion of the funds will be used for direct financial assistance to affected families. An amount of ₹9,84,31,200 has been earmarked as monthly relief assistance for 5,208 existing Endosulfan beneficiaries from April 2026 to March 2027.

Another ₹2.64 crore has been allocated for an expected 1,000 new beneficiaries who may be added to the list.

Support for caregivers and students

The government has also allocated ₹64,76,400 for the Ashwasakiranam scheme, which provides monthly financial assistance to 771 caregivers looking after Endosulfan victims.

As part of efforts to provide social and educational support to affected families, ₹10.05 lakh has been sanctioned for educational benefits for 400 children during the 2026-27 academic year.

Child rehabilitation centres to be upgraded

The government has also earmarked ₹1,16,87,400 to improve the infrastructure and services at 10 model child rehabilitation centres in the affected areas.

The funds are intended to support the continued welfare and rehabilitation of Endosulfan-affected people and their families in Kasaragod.
