Defamation case filed by EP Jayarajan: Court issues summons to Sobha Surendran

Kannur: The court has issued summons to BJP leader Sobha Surendran in connection with the defamation case filed by CPM Central Committee member E.P. Jayarajan. The summons was sent by the Kannur Judicial First Class Magistrate (Second) Court.

The case pertains to Sobha Surendran’s statement and media interview alleging that E.P. Jayarajan attempted to join the BJP and held discussions through mediator Nandakumar. E.P. Jayarajan said that these statements were false and intended to defame him and the CPM, leading him to file the petition.

Although the court had earlier recorded a statement, further action was delayed. Subsequently, E.P. Jayarajan approached the High Court and obtained an order. Following this, on Monday, after recording the statements of two witnesses, the court issued the summons requiring Sobha Surendran to appear on February 10, 2025. Advocates M. Rajagopalan Nair and P.U. Shailajan appeared on behalf of E.P. Jayarajan.
