Food poisoning: 47 students of a Kerala school seek medical treatment

Kalpetta: As many as 47 students from Woup School have sought medical treatment after showing symptoms of food poisoning. In Muttill, the students experienced symptoms such as stomach cramps, vomiting and fever. 

They were admitted to Kainatti General Hospital for treatment on Sunday. Due to the severity of the fever, some students were transferred to the emergency care section for further treatment.  

The affected children were between the ages of 4 and 12 years. The students had consumed food at the school on Friday, and it was after experiencing physical discomfort that they sought treatment at the hospital on Sunday. The Food Safety Department arrived at the school and collected water and food samples for analysis.  

The school, which educates around 1,200 students from LKG to Grade 7, confirmed that the children who sought medical help were those who ate food from the school. School authorities stated that no students who brought food from home were affected.  

Hospital authorities confirmed that the students' health was stable and their condition was improving.
