Thiruvananthapuram: Indian Union Muslim League (IUML) leader K M Shaji has once again raised suspicion over the death of CPM leader P K Kunjananthan, one of the accused in the T P Chandrasekharan murder case.

Shaji alleged that a VVIP had visited the jail before Kunjananthan suffered from food poisoning. The IUML leader challenged CPM state secretary M V Govindan to direct police to register a case in connection with the CPM leader’s death. Shaji stated that a detailed probe into the matter would eventually pave the way for several ‘agencies’ into the state.

“There is a lot of mystery surrounding Kunjananthan’s death. Earlier, when I had raised suspicions over his death, Govindan had threatened to take legal action against me. Now, I openly challenge the CPM state secretary to register a case against me,” stated the League leader.

“Two main accused in the T P Chandrasekharan case are dead. And there is no clarity over how they died. If you have noticed, Kunjananthan is the key to linking senior CPM leaders to the murder case. And all of a sudden, he dies of food poisoning. The accused in Kannur's political killings always end up being killed, as history shows, said Shaji.

“At Kannur Central Jail, they serve the same food to all the prison inmates. Hence, there is still no clarity over how only Kunjananthan suffered from food poisoning,” he added.
