Ivory Coast native racially abused, attacked during football match in Malappuram; Complaint filed
Malappuram: A complaint was filed in connection with an Ivory Coast native facing assault during a local football tournament here.
The incident happened in Chemrakattur, Areekode on Sunday. The mob attacked the footballer Hassan Junior by alleging that he had misbehaved with them.
In the complaint filed before the district police chief, he alleged that the spectators racially abused him by calling him 'black monkey' and hurled stones at him. When he tried to confront them, he was assaulted, it says in the complaint.
He also produced video footage along with his complaint. He said he would also file a complaint before the Ivory Coast embassy.
