ICOIS has said that special vigilance should be required in the following regions.

  • Thiruvananthapuram: From Kappil to Poonthura

  • Kollam: From Alappad to Edava

  • Alappuzha: From Chellanam to Azhikkal Jetty

Besides this, an alert warning has been issued for the coasts from Neerodi to Arockiapuram in Kanyakumari district.

There is a possibility that the ‘Kallakkadal’  phenomenon will persist until 11:30 PM today (16/10/2024).

Fishermen and coastal residents are advised to exercise extreme caution:

  • Due to the likelihood of severe sea disturbance, it is advised to stay away from hazardous areas as per the authorities' instructions.

  • Small boats and vessels should not be launched into the sea at this time.

  • It is dangerous to send fishing vessels into the sea during phases when the coastal phenomenon and high waves are expected.

  • All activities, including tourism focused on beaches, should be completely avoided until the INCOIS warning is lifted.

  • Fishing vessels (boats, canoes, etc.) should be securely tied up in the harbor. Maintaining a safe distance between vessels can prevent collisions.

  • All travel to beaches and recreational activities in the sea should be completely avoided.

  • Due to the potential for coastal erosion, special vigilance should be maintained.
