Thiruvananthapuram: In a serious revelation exposing sensationalist online media, Minister for Women and Child Development, Bindu Krishna, said that even her high constitutional office could not protect her from digital objectification.

Disclosing a deeply unsettling personal ordeal where an online channel cropped and circulated highly inappropriate visuals of her, completely obscuring her face, the Minister declared that the government views such predatory digital trends with extreme seriousness and is actively exploring stringent legislation to crush the menace.

The Minister disclosed that the distressing incident occurred during a function at a school in Kollam. Images focusing solely on her body, excluding her face, were captured and circulated on social media platforms. Although some individuals noticed it, raised an objection, and forced the deletion of the original post, screenshots of the visuals had already been widely circulated. The Minister questioned that if this could be the plight of a state Cabinet Minister, what would a common woman have to endure under similar circumstances.

She noted that online channels engage in such unauthorised and inappropriate filming practices even at events attended by celebrities. The government will certainly explore the possibilities of bringing in legal legislation to counter this.

Reiterating that the government maintains a zero-tolerance policy towards crimes against women and children, she added that the 'Safe Women Policy' and 'Safe Family Policy' will be implemented as part of this commitment.
