If you cannot rectify issue, then resign, says Justice Markandey Katju on plus one seat crisis

Malappuram: Former Supreme Court judge Justice Markandey Katju criticised the Kerala government concerning the alleged shortage of plus 1 seats in the Malabar region.

The remark from Katju came in the presence of Kerala Assembly speaker AN Shamseer and other senior government figures.

"I can't understand this (situation). Here (podium) sits politicians. What are you doing? Those who cannot resolve this problem should resign and return home. Are you playing with children's futures? If the issue is not resolved, I will stand against you in the next election," he said while attending an event in Malappuram on Tuesday.

Opposition parties are protesting against the government citing lack of seats in the higher secondary schools. However, the government has maintained that enough actions have been taken. Recently, it announced transfer of 14 batches to Malappuram district to address the issue. The admission is ongoing.
