Online weddings get Kerala HC’s nod; first of its kind in India
Kochi: The Kerala High Court has granted permission to conduct weddings online. The High Court division bench passed an interim order while considering a petition filed by Thiruvananthapuram native Dhanya Martin. The court has granted permission to the petitioners to conduct their weddings online.
A division bench including Justice Mohammed Mushtaq and Justice Kauser Edappagath has issued the interim order as giving relief to the petitioners.
It is the first time in the country that a court is granting permission for online weddings where grooms and brides tie the knot virtually. The interim order was passed to make a quick decision in the case of the petitioners. Following the order, the petitioner Dhanya will arrive at the sub-registrar office in Thiruvananthapuram and the groom Jeevankumar will attend the wedding from Ukraine.
The conditions for the online weddings have been also listed out.
The court made it clear that the final decision regarding this will only be taken after consulting both the central and state governments.
