Controversial remarks: HC extends interim order staying further action against Rajeev Chandrasekhar

Kochi: Kerala High Court adjourned till February 15 for further hearing on pleas filed by Union Minister Rajeev Chandrasekhar to quash the cases filed against him for his controversial remarks about the Kalamassery blasts.

Meanwhile, the court extended by a month its interim order directing the police not to take coercive steps against the Union Minister of State for Electronics and Information Technology. The petition was heard by a bench comprising Justice CS Dias.

On October 29, an IED blast was fashioned at a Jehovah’s Witnesses meeting in Kalamassery. Two days before this, the former chief of Hamas, Khaled Mashal, had given an online speech at a conference in Malappuram requesting support for Palestine. A case was registered against Chandrasekhar for his remarks on social media referring to these incidents.
