Kochi: The film Empuraan, directed by Prithviraj and starring Mohanlal in the lead, has been facing widespread criticism since its release. Many people, including political leaders, have come out in support of the film.

Hibi Eden MP has also come out in support of the film.

He shared a picture with Supriya Menon and Prithviraj Sukumaran with the caption 'India does not belong to one person (India oruthanteyum *****  vakayalla)'. He further added a wording from Malyalam in his post that translates to 'backbone' referring to his strong stand on the matter stressing on the letter 'L', a symbolism he borrowed from the film itself.

Scriptwriter Murali Gopy, Supriya and actor Prithviraj have been tagged in the said post. However, the MP has not tagged the film's hero Mohanlal.

Meanwhile, despite the controversies related to the film, the film has entered the 200 crore club globally. Empuraan reached the 200 crore club in just five days of its release. Earlier, the film entered the 100 crore club in 48 hours. Meanwhile, the re-edited version of the film will soon hit theaters.
