Thiruvananthapuram: The results of the SSLC revaluation process have been delayed, even after the publication of the Plus One trial allotment, as nearly half of the students who passed the SSLC examination have applied for revaluation.

In previous years, an average of around 1.25 lakh students applied for SSLC revaluation. This year, however, the number has crossed 2.5 lakh. In other words, more than half of the 4.10 lakh students who passed the SSLC examination have sought revaluation, leading to delays in the declaration of results.

To improve assessment standards and prevent excessive awarding of marks, the Class 10 question papers for the 2025–26 academic year were made more challenging. As a result, the number of students securing full A+ grades dropped by nearly half compared to the previous year. While 61,449 students achieved full A+ in 2024–25, the figure fell to 30,514 this year. Similar declines were recorded across other grade categories as well. This prompted a large number of successful candidates to apply for revaluation.

Officials also attributed the delay to teachers being occupied with school reopening duties and training programmes related to Census work.

In previous years, revaluation results were usually completed and published in May. Although applications were accepted until May 21 this year, the results have still not been announced.

With the Plus One trial allotment having already been published, students and parents are now concerned about whether any changes in SSLC marks following revaluation will be reflected in the admission process.
