Govt swears to defend Chinese threat, but unable to ensure peace in Manipur: Archbishop Perumthottam

Kottayam: Joseph Perumthottam, archbishop of Changanacherry Archdiocese, Syro-Malabar Catholic Church, criticised the union government for “failing” to handle Manipur riots.
The failure to suppress violence raises concern over the government's ability to uphold the nation's integrity and ensure peace, he said.
"The administrators were not able to restore peace in Manipur. The authorities failed to stop a community from massacring another community. The government that swears to defend the country against China and Pakistan is unable to ensure the safety of a small state," Joseph Perumthottam said.
