Govt grants relaxation in stamp duty, registration fee for property received by landless as gift

Thiruvananthapuram: The Kerala cabinet has approved a proposal by the registration department to grant a relaxation in stamp duty and registration fees for properties received as gifts for the rehabilitation of the landless and for projects of public interest.
Categories of land transfer eligible for relaxation
Property up to 10 cents received by the landless beneficiaries who fall under BPL (Below Poverty Line) for building a house from non-relatives.
Properties granted as gift from the government or non-relatives for the victims of calamities.
Land up to two acres gifted to establish palliative care institutions, schools or rehabilitation centres for orphans, disabled persons or AIDS patients.
