Sherin Shahana receives news of Civil Service success from her hospital bed

Perinthalmanna: Wayanad native Sherin Shahana, who made it to the ranklist of the top examination of the country, found the good news on a hospital bed. The wheelchair-bound girl is currently admitted to a private hospital in Perinthalmanna after sustaining an injury to her shoulder bone in a car accident.

Sherin has secured the 913th rank in the Civil Services Examination of 2022. She is the daughter of the late Usman and Amina. The recent accident happened at Thamarassery when she was accompanying her mother to her treatment. Sherin will undergo surgery soon. 

The unfortunate incident that turned her life upside down happened five years ago when she fell from the roof of her house. She suffered a spine injury in the fall which left her confined to a wheelchair. She lost leg movements completely and hands ability reduced to 70 per cent. However, she kept chasing her dreams and soon cleared the NET and JRF in Political Science. Sherin has enrolled in a PhD program at Calicut University.

Sherin received coaching from Thiruvananthapuram and Kozhikode. Moreover, she opted for online courses since she could use her mobile phone and laptop on her own. She wrote the exam with the aid of a scribe.
