Customs records arrest of Swapna, Sandeep; NIA court extends remand till Aug 21

Thiruvananthapuram: The Customs on Friday recorded the arrest of Swapna Suresh and Sandeep Nair, the accused in the diplomatic baggage gold smuggling case at Thiruvananthapuram airport. The arrest was recorded at the NIA court in Kochi.

Also, the court extended the remand period of Swapna and Sandeep, in NIA custody, till August 21.

Customs is also looking to take the accused in custody to interrogate them. However, an application in this regard can be submitted further only on Monday.

The NIA court also deferred the bail plea submitted by Swapna to Wednesday.
