Youth run over by auto for denying nokkukooli; CPM branch secretary arrested in TVM

Thiruvananthapuram: In a shocking incident, a youth was brutally beaten up and run over by an autorickshaw for denying nokku kooli or gawking wage, it is alleged. Parassala CPM branch secretary Pradeep was arrested in connection with the incident.

A complaint was filed with the police alleging Pradeep and his friends ran over Senthil, a jackfruit trader in Parassala, with an autorickshaw. Attempt to murder charges have been registered against Pradeep.

Senthil was ran over by autorickshaw during the new year celebrations.

It is alleged that Pradeep demanded gawking wage from Senthil over loading of jackfruit, but he denied. Revenge over this incident led to the brutal attack.

During the new year celebrations, Pradeep and friends took Senthil in an autorickshaw and beat him up. Then he was run over by the vehicle, the complaint said.

Senthil, who is under treatment at the Thiruvananthapuram Medical College, remains critical. His thighbones have been broken.

Police are of the opinion that more people are involved in the incident and the search for them is on.
