G Sakthidharan refuses to provide details to police on his allegations against CPM

Thiruvananthapuram: G Sakthidharan, a senior journalist who levelled veiled allegations against CPM leaders, on Thursday appeared before police to provide statement. However, sources stated that he has not mentioned anything other than what is said in his Facebook posts. He refused to name anyone or provide more details about his allegations.
He also refused to talk to the media. Police may file a report based on this preliminary investigation.
In recent social media posts, the former associate editor of CPM mouthpiece ‘Deshabhimani’ had claimed that he had helped a senior CPM leader in packing over Rs 2 crore rupees into two large reed mats at an office in Kaloor years ago. Sakthidharan was sacked from the party almost two decades ago. In a separate post, he also claimed CPM tried to murder Congress president K Sudhakaran. CPM has dismissed the allegations as baseless.
Congress MP Benny Behanan had filed a complaint in connection with the journalist’s accusations. However the police have not registered a case so far, but instead decided to collect statements from Sakthidharan based on his Facebook post.
